Review of the top & most popular adjustable beds
Since sleeping preferences have recently started to become increasingly specific needs-motivated, manufacturers have designed specific alterations and offer different models to meet those needs. While this is a great step toward better sleep for a larger variety of consumers, it requires the consumer to know what they’re looking for. This is especially true when shopping online.
What’s the Best Adjustable Bed?
Choosing an adjustable bed to meet your needs can be a long process that involves research, phone or email conversations, and maybe a visit to a store or website. Based on my research, I’ve narrowed down the most popular adjustable beds on the market. My research methods include many phone calls, emails, and online research.
Surprisingly, I’ve found that although the Tempurpedic adjustable beds are popular, they either have the same or less features than other adjustable beds. However, Tempurpedic does meet the industry standard in terms of warranty and customer service.
Astrabeds – ErgoStar Evolution Adjustable Bed
The ErgoStar Evolution differentiates itself from the competition with the “Zero Gravity” pre-programmed position on the remote. By pressing the button, it automatically puts the adjustable bed in a position that reduces pressure throughout the body by distributing your weight evenly.
Other features are more standard such as a wireless remote, variable massage, a “wall holding” feature which keeps you near your nightstand when elevating the head, and ability to be used with an existing headboard/footboard.
The ErgoStar Evolution warranty meets the industry standard of 20 years. For the first 5 years, all parts costs are covered. From year 6-20, the warranty is prorated.
Customers have reviewed and rated this product very highly at 4.6 out of 5 stars. One website, astrabeds.com, had 59 third-party verified reviews. From those responses, 98% would recommend it to a friend. Some reviews even had pictures of the adjustable bed being used in the home.

Simply Rest – Signature Select Adjustable Bed
The Signature Select offers the closest comparison of features to the Tempurpedic counterpart, but at a much friendlier price. In addition to the customizable memory position, the wireless remote has pre-programmed positions for “Flat,” and “Reading” positions. Other features include a variable-intensity, full body wave massage and space-saving design that keeps you near the wall or nightstand when elevating the head.
This adjustable bed is especially helpful for consumers that have medical needs like severe back pain, edema, acid reflux, or sleep apnea. The head elevates up to 63 degrees and the foot elevates up to 47 degrees.
I’ve found the warranty for the Signature Select to meet the industry standard at 20 years. The first 3 years feature full replacement for the part and, after that, the cost is prorated.
Customers rate the Signature Select very highly because of its warranty, the features it includes, and also because of the pain relief afforded by the wide range of positions and also from the relaxation of the variable-intensity wave massage.
Prodigy by Leggett & Platt (available through multiple resellers)
The Leggett & Platt Prodigy come with a wide variety of features and is focused on the luxury market. It offers the “Wall-Hugger” technology that keeps you near the wall or nightstand when adjusting the head. You can even control the bed with an iPhone! For partners that have issues with “snoring,” there’s an anti-snore feature that slightly adjusts your partner to make them stop snoring. It also includes the ability to set customizable programmable positions.
The Prodigy has a great warranty that starts with up to 5 years of full replacement for parts. After that, the adjustable bed is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty that does not include coverage for the electronics or motors.
The Prodigy is reviewed very well with consumers who prefer the luxury of additional features and ability to control the bed with their iPhone.
Craftmatic – Model I Adjustable Bed
The Craftmatic Model I adjustable bed includes wave massage features programmable positions, anti-snore feature, and wireless remote. There was no mention of keeping the bed close to the wall or nightstand, however this feature may be available.
The warranty of the Craftmatic Model I adjustable bed is lacking compared to the competition. It begins with only a 1 year limited warranty on certain components and then extends to a Limited Lifetime warranty.
The Craftmatic website hosts no third-party verified reviews. It also does not feature any rating based on consumer responses. However, on a third-party reviews website (Epinions.com), the Craftmatic Model I adjustable bed is severely lacking with an average rating of only 2.5 stars out of 5 possible. Most of the poor reviews cite warranty issues, low quality, high price, and poor customer service.
Contour Adjustable Beds – Premier Model Adjustable Bed
Notable features of the Premier Model adjustable bed are the wireless hand control, wave massage, and high-carbon steel frame. The Premier Model will also fit with any head or footboards with adjustable head/footboard brackets.
The warranty of the Premier Model is also lacking compared to its competitors. It beings with a 1 year full replacement followed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Very little information is available in writing on their website.
No customer submitted reviews (either third-party or not) are available on the website. Doing a quick search on Google (“contour premier adjustable bed reviews”) yielded the top results for multiple consumer complaint boards such as consumeraffairs.com (the #1 result). The most common complaints are from telephone harassment by not removing them from their calling list. A concerning factor is the delay in response to consumer complaints by the company itself (sometimes taking multiple months, if at all).
Tempurpedic – TEMPUR Advanced Ergo System
The notable features available in the Advanced Ergo include wave massage, wireless remote control, and “wall-hugging” design to keep your bed near the wall and nightstands during adjustment. The head of the adjustable bed elevates up to 70 degrees which is slightly more than comparable models.
The warranty is on par with the industry standard. The 20 year limited warranty begins with years 1-3 being full coverage and ending with years 4-20 being prorated.
The customer reviews available on the Tempurpedic website rate this adjustable bed at 4 out of 5 stars. However, there is no mention any third-party verification.
How to Choose?
After putting a great deal of time into researching the best adjustable beds and their differences, the last step for a consumer is to choose between the choices above. Other than the warranty and customer service, the only notable differences are usually limited to the luxury features and price. Remember that if you are looking for a company to give both a great product and superior customer service, beware of companies that have many consumer complaints on multiple consumer complaint boards. If you’re searching for the highest value, you’ll probably purchase from an online retailer. Keep in mind that third-party verified reviews are becoming an industry standard. They help online shoppers know exactly what to expect.
